Former Tennessee basketball star Tobias Harris made headlines on Monday night with a highlight reel jam. Harris threw down a monster dunk for the Detroit Pistons on San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie.
However, in the battle between two of the top teams in the NBA, the Spurs came out on top, 114-103, in Detroit. Harris started for the Pistons, but had an off night outside of the slam. In just under 30 minutes on the floor, Harris posted four points on 1-for-6 shooting from the field. He also contributed eight rebounds and two assists.
Champagnie, who was on the wrong end of Harris’ dunk, started for San Antonio. He finished with 17 points, six rebounds, one assist, two blocks and a steal, while getting the last laugh with the win.

On the year, Harris is averaging 13.3 points per game on 44.8% shooting from the field and 34.8% from range. He also contributes 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per outing.
This is Harris’ second season back in Detroit. Previously in his career, Harris also played for the Pistons from 2016-2018. Since his NBA career began in 2011, he’s also played for the Bucks, Magic, Clippers and 76ers.
Harris was a five-star recruit out of high school before picking Tennessee out of New York. He was considered the No. 4 player in the country via Scout and No. 7 on Rivals. An expected one-and-done recruit, Harris lived up to the high expectations as a freshman. He averaged 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
As a result, Harris was named a Second-Team Freshman All-American, Second-Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team member. He was drafted by the Bobcats 19th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft before being traded to the Bucks on draft night.
Harris will be an unrestricted free agent after this season, available to sign with any NBA team with which he can reach an agreement.
