Tennessee football has already landed its quarterback in the 2027 class. Three-star signal caller Derrick Baker picked the Vols over a number of Power Four offers.
As he prepares for his senior season of high school, Baker competed in an elite 7-on-7 tournament, ‘The Sevens‘. Not only did he have a personally strong showing, but Baker also helped his team, Cam Newton 7v7 (C1N), win the championship in the 18U division.
Here are some of the highlights that have been posted from Baker’s time at the event:

Baker is considered the No. 539 recruit in the country on 247 Composite. This slots him as the No. 37 quarterback and No. 62 player from Georgia in the cycle.
Along with UT, he held offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss and plenty more.
Baker plays for Milton High School in the Peach State. The Vols have recruited the high school well under Josh Heupel, landing the likes of defensive backs Ty Redmond and Dylan Lewis from the program in the 2025 class.
Baker won’t join Tennessee until after this upcoming season as he prepares for his senior year with Milton. It’s tough to fully project what the Vols’ quarterback room will look like by then, though. Redshirt-freshman George MacIntyre, true freshman Faizon Brandon and Colorado transfer Ryan Staub are all rostered with multiple years of eligibility as they fight for the starting job.
