Tennessee softball defended its No. 1 ranking this past week in its home opening weekend. The Lady Vols went 5-0 to stay undefeated, downing Appalachian State and Penn State twice and NC Central once.
Now, Tennessee has another tough challenge. On Tuesday night, UT will host Belmont, which is off to a 13-5 start with wins over Georgia and Mississippi State. Then, SEC play arrives over the weekend as the Lady Vols prepare to host LSU.
Before the busy week begins, Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly met with the media. She was asked about the Belmont game, keys to the team’s fast start, the offensive state of the game and more.
Along with Weekly, infielder Makenzie Butt and outfielder Taelyn Holley fielded questions. Both are in their first seasons with the program, Butt as a Boise State transfer and Holley as a true freshman.
