On Sunday, Lady Vols basketball held Senior Day festivities as it concluded the 2025-26 regular season. It wouldn’t just mark the last time for Tennessee senior guard Kaiya Wynn suiting up at home, but in her career. According to a report from Cora Hall of Knox News, she is stepping away from the team. A UT Spokesperson also confirmed the report to RTI.
Wynn was in her fifth season, all with the Lady Vols. She initially committed to Kellie Harper, but stuck through the coaching change to Kim Caldwell. In practice ahead of her true senior year, Wynn suffered a torn Achilles injury which sidelined her for the season, though.
Wynn returned for a redshirt-senior year, but rarely saw action. This season, she appeared in nine games while posting averages of 0.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.
Extremely proud and blessed to be apart of such an historic program! Although I wish I could have played one last time in Thompson-Boling, I will never forget the amazing memories we made over the past 5 years🧡 #LVFL https://t.co/mW0QvfBNSY

Wynn did not play during Senior Day, an 87-77 loss to Vanderbilt that only got away from the Lady Vols late in the third quarter. This sparked some criticism after the game on social media.
However, according to the report from Hall, Wynn was offered the chance to play at the end of the game, but declined.
“Extremely proud and blessed to be apart of such an historic program!” Wynn posted on her X account after the game. “Although I wish I could have played one last time in Thompson-Boling, I will never forget the amazing memories we made over the past 5 years”
The Lady Vols will open their SEC Tournament run on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET in Greenville, S.C. Tennessee, the 6-seed, will play the winner between 11-seed Alabama and 14-seed Missouri.
