Lady Vols basketball has lost seven consecutive games and 10 of its last 12 appearances. With things trending so far in the wrong direction, it brings up the natural question:

Is Tennessee even going to make the NCAA Tournament in Kim Caldwell’s second season as head coach?

Despite the ugly stretch and uninspiring record, the answer is very likely yes. The Lady Vols are widely projected as an 8-seed in the event. This is due to a brutal strength of schedule and strong standing in the NET. Tennessee ranks as the No. 22 team in the country in the ranking used as a tool by the selection committee.

Kim Caldwell’s Case

“Yeah, I do. I think we’ve played the hardest schedule in the country. I think the majority of that came in February, but we have significant wins, and I think that – we hope to get in and continue to try to be a different team.”
