It didn’t take long for former Tennessee baseball star Andrew Fischer to leave his mark on the World Baseball Classic. The former Vols corner infielder hammered a home run to right field at Dalkin Park, home of the Houston Astros.

This produced the first run of the game for Team Italy. However, Great Britain still held a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the third following the blast.

Italy is off to a 1-0 start in the WBC heading into Sunday. It is in Pool B featuring the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Great Britain. The top two finishers from each pool advance to the quarterfinals stage after a round-robin format.
