Tennessee Basketball will head to the SEC Tournament this week as the 5-seed in the event. The Vols will begin their run in the second round with a matchup against either 12-seed Auburn or 13-seed Mississippi State on Thursday afternoon. If Tennessee wins, it will take on 4-seed Vanderbilt in a rubber match on Friday afternoon for a spot in the semi-finals.

The Vols put together a nice run in SEC play throughout most of the season but did drop two out of their last three games. The team didn’t have Nate Ament due to injury for its win over South Carolina and loss to Vanderbilt, and he only played in 11 minutes against Alabama before leaving that loss early with injury. Fortunately for Tennessee, though, the break in action gives a bit of extended time to recover before heading back onto the court.

Ahead of Tennessee’s travel to Nashville this week, head coach Rick Barnes and freshman forward DeWayne Brown met with the media to talk about their thoughts on the week ahead. Barnes gave some injury updates and Brown spoke about the excitement around his first postseason run on the horizon.
