The transfer portal opens on Monday, April 6, but that hasn’t stopped players across the country from making their intentions known. For the Lady Vols, seven players are departing, including four of the five signed freshmen from last year’s class.
Alyssa Latham has also committed to her new school, Virginia Tech, as a grad transfer. This allowed her to enter early and communicate with schools.
The Lady Vols are coming off a season that certainly didn’t go as planned. Tennessee finished 16-14 (8-8 SEC). The Lady Vols were the 6-seed in the SEC Tournament, but lost to Alabama in the second round. They earned a 10-seed in the NCAA Tournament, but lost to NC State in the Round of 64 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Now, head coach Kim Caldwell is in a position where she will have to patch the holes in the ship and figure out what she wants to do going into year three.
“I think that this world is kind of crazy of we’ll meet when we get back and we’ll figure out who wants to stay, what we’re going to do,” Caldwell said after the NCAA Tournament loss. “And I think the portal, we have a little while before it opens to get there, but it’s just going to continue to be crazier and crazier every year.”

Number of kids transfering shows something isn’t good with coaching
Bad coaching or tough coaching? No real team chemistry ever during the season.
