Tennessee Baseball is turning the lights out for its Saturday night game against the LSU Tigers this weekend. According to a post from the Vols’ social media account, Tennessee is breaking out its Dark mode uniforms for Saturday’s game against the Tigers.
The Vols first debuted the Dark Mode uniforms on the diamond in May 2022. This came just a handful of months after Tennessee Football first broke out its black uniforms during the 2021 football season. While some Tennessee fans might still be skeptical about it, the Dark Mode uniforms have become an alternate uniform fixture for football, men’s basketball, and baseball.
The Dark Mode uniforms feature a black hat with the interlocking UT logo, a black jersey with large orange letters that spell out ‘VOLS’ across the chest, and white or grey pants depending on the home/away designation of the game.
Tennessee even won Game 3 of the College World Series Finals while wearing the Dark Mode uniforms, placing the look in the all-time history books of Tennessee Athletics and college baseball as a whole.

Tennessee’s first game against LSU will take place at 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday evening. The Vols’ Dark Mode game on Saturday night will be at 6:00 p.m. ET. The series will wrap up with a 1:00 p.m. ET game on Easter Sunday.
Tennessee Baseball is mixing up its starting pitching rotation for the series. As reported by RTI, right-handed pitcher Landon Mack will start Friday night’s opener against the Tigers, right-handed pitcher Tegan Kuhns will start Saturday, and left-handed pitcher Evan Blanco will start Sunday.
The Vols are 19-10 in their first season under head coach Josh Elander. While Tennessee is coming off a 13-4 midweek splattering of Austin Peay, last weekend’s SEC series was about as heartbreaking as it gets for the Vols. Tennessee was swept by in-state rival Vanderbilt, with the Commodores walking-off all three games in Nashville. Vanderbilt won 3-2 on Friday, 6-5 on Saturday, and 16-15 on Sunday.
The Tigers, meanwhile, are 20-10 on the season. LSU has won their first SEC series over Kentucky last weekend after dropping its first two series to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
