Lady Vols basketball is going to have to land both quality and quantity in the transfer portal this cycle. Kim Caldwell has just one player on the roster, incoming four-star freshman Gabby Minus.
With the portal officially opening up on Monday, Caldwell and her staff are starting to make moves. According to a report from VolQuest, Tennessee is scheduled to host Liberty guard Avery Mills on a visit.
Mills just concluded her sophomore season. She will have two years of eligibility remaining going forward. She has played both of her seasons at Liberty so far at the college level.

Mills was a First-Team All-Conference USA member this past season. In 26 games and 25 starts, she averaged 15.3 points per game on 42.9% shooting from the field and 42.7% on threes. She also contributed 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game on the season.
As a freshman, Mills played in 33 games with no starts. She averaged 6.8 points on 51.9% shooting from the field 46.2% on threes and 91.3% from the free throw line. This 50/40/90 line helped her earn a spot on the CUSA All-Freshman Team.
Mills is from Lynchburg, Virginia. She stands at 5-foot-9 and plays guard.
Tennessee will return no players for the upcoming season. The Lady Vols lost all eight potential returners to the transfer portal, including star guard Talaysia Cooper and all five freshmen from last year’s class that ranked No. 2 in the country.
UT also has an opening on its staff following the firing of Roman Tubner. Gabe Lazo left for LSU, then the head coaching job at UCF, and has since been replaced by Bill Ferrara.
