Tennessee Football wrapped up its 12th practice of the spring camp slate on Tuesday morning in Knoxville, which was followed by interview sessions from the players and coaches. The Vols’ two assistant coaches who met with the media on Tuesday are both new hires this offseason, with co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Anthony Poindexter and cornerbacks coach Derek Jones.
Both joined Tennessee’s defensive staff under the direction of defensive coordinator Jim Knowles this offseason, with Poindexter also coming from Penn State and Jones coming from Virginia Tech. Both hires were made to revamp Tennessee’s secondary and defense as a whole.
Poindexter and Jones spoke to the media on Tuesday morning, talking about the newcomers and returners in their position rooms. They talked about where they’ve seen improvement from their groups, what’s stood out about key players, what still needs work heading into the summer, and much more.
