A class of 2027 cornerback target for the Tennessee Volunteers looks to be back on the market. According to a report from Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday afternoon, three-star cornerback Nash Johnson III has de-committed from Alabama. He had previously been committed to Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide program since October 2025. Johnson originally committed to Alabama just one day after receiving an offer from Tennessee.

Rivals’ Industry Rankings tags Johnson as the No. 67 cornerback in the class and the No. 72 player from the state of Georgia. He holds 30 scholarship offers, according to Fawcett.

One of his scholarship offers comes from the Tennessee Volunteers, where new cornerbacks coach Derek Jones is listed as his primary recruiter. Jones was named Tennessee’s cornerback coach under defensive coordinator Jim Knowles on Feb. 16.

According to 247Sports’ recruiting timeline, Johnson was in Knoxville for an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Mar. 19, and has a return trip penciled in for June 12 as an official visit. It’s unclear what plans will change after his decommitment from Alabama, but Tennessee might be back in the race.
