Former Tennessee basketball wing Cam Carr declared for the NBA Draft on Tuesday evening after a breakout sophomore season at Baylor, he announced on Instagram.

“After long conversations with my family and a lot of prayer, I am announcing that I will be entering the 2026 NBA Draft,” Carr wrote in a statement. “The NBA has been the goal my entire life and I am ready for this next step.”

Carr turned in a strong redshirt sophomore season at Baylor, averaging 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-5 wing shot 49% from the field and 37% from three-point range as Baylor posted a 17-17 record and missed the NCAA Tournament.

The Minnesota native scored 20-plus points 15 times during the 2025-26 season including a 26-point performance against Big 12 Championship Arizona.

Carr spent 1.5 seasons at Tennessee before leaving the Volunteer program and ending up at Baylor for his final collegiate season. He left the Tennessee program in late December 2024 after battling a thumb injury for the previous month. While he left with the intent to transfer, the portal has not been open so the 6-foot-5 wing never officially entered.

“After a lot of prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to leave Tennessee and pursue a fresh start,” Carr wrote in a statement. “I have nothing but love for Coach Barnes, the Tennessee staff and Vol Nation. I truly wish them the best going forward and am grateful for the opportunity they provided me.”

The wing played in just four games for Tennessee as a sophomore, averaging 4.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and one assist in 10.3 minutes per game. The thumb injury sidelined Carr but there was an opportunity for him to earn playing time once he returned from injury.

As a freshman at Tennessee, Carr played in 14 games and averaged 1.6 points per game. He hit a key three-pointer late in the first half of the Vols’ Sweet 16 win over Creighton that season.

Tennessee made another run to the Elite Eight after Carr left the team during the 2024-25 season. Barnes and his staff added talented wing Nate Ament to its roster last season and made a third straight trip to the Elite Eight.
