One of Lady Vols basketball’s transfer portal targets, Arizona forward Blessing Adebanjo, is headed elsewhere in the SEC. Despite taking a visit to see Tennessee earlier this week, Adebanjo has committed to Georgia, she announced on her Instagram on Saturday morning.

Adebanjo has two seasons of eligibility remaining. She played this past season at Arizona, her first collegiate season in the United States and in the NCAA.

The 6-foot-3 forward played in 26 games and started in four. Over the course of 10.4 minutes per outing, she produced 3.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.5 steals per game. This came on 50% shooting from the field and no attempted 3-pointers.

The Wildcats finished this past season 12-18 (3-15 Big 12) and missed out on the NCAA Tournament. This was the first year under new head coach Becky Burke.

Prior to her time at Arizona in America, Adebanjo played her freshman season at a college in Japan. At Yamanashi Gakun University, she averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 7.7 blocks per game. She even totalled 45 points and 17 rebounds in a single game while being named Athlete of the Year.

Adebanjo went to high school at Japan Aviation Academy. There, she competed in the 2023 Winter Cup All-Japan Games. Initially, Adebanjo is from Lagos, Nigeria.

When Tennessee and Georgia play this upcoming season, it’ll be a game with plenty of familiarity. After adding former Bulldogs assistant Isoken Uzamere to Kim Caldwell’s Lady Vols staff, she helped bring in a pair of UGA transfers. Both forward Zhen Craft and guard Rylie Theuerkauf have signed with Tennessee out of the portal.

Georgia has a new head coach this year, as well. Following the mutual parting of ways with Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, Ayla Guzzardo was hired as her replacement from McNeese.
