HIGHLIGHTS: What Lady Vols Basketball is Getting From Texas A&M Transfer Fatmata Janneh

On Tuesday, Lady Vols basketball made a transfer portal splash with the addition of Texas A&M starting forward Fatmata Janneh. With the need to add size, Janneh comes in at 6-foot-2 with starting experience in the post during an SEC slate.

What exactly does Janneh bring to the table, though? The first thing that jumps out is her rebounding ability. She ripped down 9.7 boards per contest, good for the fifth-most in the SEC. This featured 2.6 rebounds on the offensive end per outing.

Janneh is an effective scorer, as well. With the Aggies a year ago, the 6-foot-2 forward averaged 11.4 points per game on 43.3% shooting from the field. She also showed off an ability to hit from range, posting 1.1 makes per game on 33% shooting from three.

On the season, Janneh averaged 1.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. She appeared in 27 games, starting in each.

Against Tennessee in a win in Knoxville, this was all on display. Janneh was a big piece of the Aggies’ upset win, posting 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and 2-for-3 from range. She earned a double-double, as well, adding 12 rebounds, four assists and a steal to her stat line.
