If the NFL Draft is the door to the life-changing opportunity of the National Football League, then the initial phone call during the draft is the first step through. It’s the first moment that dreams turn into reality for hundreds of players, and a moment that they’ll never forget.
That phone call has happened for 22 Tennessee players during the Josh Heupel era on Rocky Top, including five players over the last three days. The Volunteers sent Colton Hood to the New York Giants, Chris Brazzell to the Carolina Panthers, Jermod McCoy to the Vegas Raiders, Joshua Josephs to the Washington Commanders, and Tyre West to the Detroit Lions.
Fortunately for Tennessee fans, those phone calls were captured and posted to social media to serve as a window into the life-changing moment for the Vols’ former players. Tennessee has posted the phone call for each of its selections except for Tyre West, but there is video going around of West’s reaction to seeing his name called on the television.
