Tennessee Football landed its seventh commitment to its 2027 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon. According to a report from Rivals’ Chad Simmons, three-star Carter Jamison is joining the Vols’ class.

Jamison is a 5-foot-11 defensive back from Creekside High School in Fairburn, Ga. He hails from the same high school that VFLs Eric Berry and his brothers Evan and Elliott are from. Rivals’ Industry Rankings have Jamison tagged as the No. 989 player in the class, the No. 97 cornerback in the cycle, and the No. 108 player from the state of Georgia.

The Creekside cornerback picked Tennessee over an offer list that included South Florida, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Liberty, Kennesaw State, and others.

Jamison was part of a Creekside High School team that went 15-0 en route to the Georgia 4A State Championship last season. According to 247 Sports, Jamison finished his junior season with 63 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. Additionally, during his sophomore campaign, he tallied 52 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two punt blocks, and one sack.

While Rivals lists him as a cornerback on its service, 247Sports has Jamison listed as a safety. But 247Sports does have Tennessee cornerbacks coach Derek Jones as his primary recruiter. Jones talked about what he looks for out of a cornerback prospect during his introductory press conference a few months back.

“You know, the number one thing I’m looking for is not physical,” Jones said. “I mean, it’s mentality. It’s the mindset of the guy. It’s how competitive is he? Is he a guy that’s gonna be okay when things go bad? How’s he gonna react when adversity hits and all of that? And some of the guys have that naturally, generally, but it’s also something that you have to continue to coach and instill. And from the physical part, you’re just looking for a guy that’s a good football player.”

247Sports’ timeline shows that Jamison was on Rocky Top for an unofficial visit on April 2. One month later, on May 2, he’s announced his commitment to the Volunteers. Considering that Jamison was offered just one day after Derek Jones was announced as UT’s next cornerbacks coach, it’s been strong and quick work from the Vols to get the three-star prospect on campus and get him committed to the Big Orange.

Jamison is Tennessee’s seventh commitment in the 2027 class and fourth commitment on the defensive side of the ball. Alongside Jamison, the Vols have commitments from four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman, four-star OT Princeton Uwaifo, four-star DL Kadin Fife, three-star safety Jaden Butler, three-star LB J.P. Peace, and three-star QB Derrick Baker. With the addition of Jamison, Tennessee Football now ranks 22nd in the nation in Rivals’ 2027 team rankings.
