Tennessee softball is headed to the super regionals. On Sunday, the Lady Vols defeated Virginia 5-1 to clinch their spot as one of the final 16 teams standing. Now, they’ll host Georgia for the Knoxville Super Regionals next weekend.
After the win over the Hoos, Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly, pitcher Karlyn Pickens and freshman outfielder Taelyn Holley took to the podium to field questions from the media. They discussed Pickens’ outing, Holley’s home run and more.
Pickens tossed a complete game in the circle, allowing just one run on two hits. While she did walk four batters and hit another pair, she struck out nine to keep UVA’s offense at bay. Holley finished 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs, an RBI, a walk and reached on an error. She also made a great play in left field defensively.
For Virginia, head coach Joanna Hardin, shortstop Jade Hylton and pitcher Taylor Smith spoke.
