The SEC Baseball tournament returns to the Hoover Met this week for an exciting week of college baseball in the Southeastern Conference. Sixteen teams will compete for the championship trophy on Sunday afternoon in a win-or-go-home, survive-and-advance format.

Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, and Alabama are the top four seeds in the tournament. They’ll have a double-bye to open the tournament and will begin their runs in the quarterfinal round. Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi State are the next four teams, who have a single bye and will begin their games in the second round. The opening round will kick off with Ole Miss-Missouri, Vanderbilt-Kentucky, Tennessee-South Carolina, and LSU-Oklahoma on Tuesday.

While the seeding is based on regular-season records, the oddsmakers don’t necessarily share the same view on who the most likely winners of the tournament are. Mississippi State, for instance, is the 8-seed in the bracket but has the fourth-best odds to win the whole thing.

Here’s a look at the SEC Baseball Tournament odds on Tuesday morning, courtesy of DraftKings:

The first thing that jumps out when looking at the odds is where the breaks are. The first one comes between Alabama/Florida and Arkansas, suggesting where the top tier of contenders is. Then you have the second tier of contenders, which ranges from Arkansas to Oklahoma, before the Hail Mary shots at the end with South Carolina and Missouri.

The other thing that jumps out a good bit is that Mississippi State has better odds than its seed and Alabama has worse odds than its seed. The rest of the list isn’t a perfect 1-to-1 comparison by any stretch, but these are the two biggest movers in terms of the top contenders tier.
