Tennessee will see a recent UT transfer during the Players Era Tournament on Thanksgiving week this fall. According to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, the Volunteers will square off against Maryland on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Former Tennessee guard Bishop Boswell signed with the Terrapins out of the transfer portal in April. The Vols are likely to see multiple players from last year’s Elite Eight roster during the SEC season, but Boswell will be the first up on the non-conference slate.

Boswell played just 3.8 minutes per game during his first season with Tennessee, but stepped up to a much bigger role this past year. He played in 34 games with 33 starts and averaged 26.4 minutes per contest. Over the course of the season, Boswell averaged 6.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.

Boswell hit a season-high 13 points on four occasions last season, including the Vols’ second round NCAA Tournament game against Virginia in Philadelphia. He also tallied that point total against Texas A&M, Georgia, and Missouri.

While Boswell will see his former team during the Players Era Tournament in Las Vegas, he won’t see many of his former teammates. Tennessee has brought in eight new pieces from the transfer portal this offseason, while only retaining forward DeWayne Brown and guard Troy Henderson. Tennessee’s transfer portal class ranks second in the nation by 247Sports and has six listings among 247’s Top 100 transfer portal players.

He also won’t be seeing his former assistant coach Justin Gainey, who accepted the head coaching position at NC State following the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee will take on Maryland on Nov. 24, and will then take on either Iowa State or San Diego State on Nov. 26. The Vols will then play on Nov. 27 with the possibility of playing in the Players Era championship on Nov. 28.

Bishop Boswell is one of multiple ex-Tennessee players that the Vols could, and will likely see at some point this season. Tennessee’s outgoing transfer portal activity saw Amari Evans go to Texas, Jaylen Carey go to Missouri, and Cade Phillips go to Texas A&M. The Vols could also go up against J.P. Estrella and Michigan if the NCAA Tournament bracket shapes up that way next spring.
