Tennessee softball has claimed game one of the Knoxville Super Regional. The Lady Vols defeated Georgia 3-1 in Sherri Parker Lee Stadium to take an advantage in the best-of-three series.
After the game, Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly, pitcher Karlyn Pickens and outfielder Sophia Knight met with the media to give their thoughts on the game. They were asked about Pickens’ dominant night, Knight’s home run and more.
Pickens finished the game throwing in each of the seven innings while allowing just one run, seven hits, three walks and hitting one batter while striking out 10 batters. Knight recorded a pair of hits, including a leadoff home run in the first inning and a double to center field in her following at-bat.
Georgia also sent head coach Tony Baldwin and shortstop Emily Digby to meet with the media. Digby was responsible for UGA’s lone run via a solo home run in the second.
