Tennessee softball is moving on to the Women’s College World Series. The Lady Vols defeated Georgia 2-1 on Friday to clinch their spot and claim a sweep in the Knoxville Super Regional.
After the game, UT head coach Karen Weekly, pitcher Sage Mardjetko and outfielder Sophia Knight met with the media to give their thoughts. They were asked about returning to Oklahoma City, the team’s dominant pitching performances and more.
Mardjetko came in in relief in the series-deciding win. She posted a line of 5.2 innings, one earned run, two allowed hits, two walks and nine strikeouts. Knight provided the game-deciding blow, a two-run home run in the top of the second inning. It was her second home run of the super regional and second of the season.
Georgia also sent head coach Tony Baldwin and outfielders Sarah Gordon and Jaydyn Goodwin to meet with the media.
