Kentucky basketball landed the final major prize in the transfer portal this offseason with Iowa State transfer wing Milan Momcilovic committed to the Wildcats over Louisville.

Momcilovic entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason while he went through the NBA Draft process. After removing his name from the NBA Draft last week, Momcilovic’s recruitment heated up with both Kentucky and Louisville emerging as the top contributors.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the market for Momcilovic grew all the way to over $6 million in the final days of his recruitment.

The 6-foot-8 sharpshooter averaged 16.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and one assist per game a season ago. Momcilovic is one of the best shooters in the country. He made a remarkable 136 three-pointers last season while shooting 48.7% from three-point range.

Tennessee faced off against Momcilovic in the Sweet 16 when the Vols locked down the sharpshooter in a 76-62 win to advance to the Elite Eight. Momcilovic scored just six points on two-for-nine shooting from the field as Bishop Boswell and the rest of Tennessee’s roster slowed down Momcilovic.

“He made my life hard today,” Momcilovic said of Boswell postgame. “Give a lot of credit to him. One heck of a defender. He completely won the matchup today.”

Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has been the subject of a good deal of criticism this offseason as the Wildcats missed out on a number of top targets after a disappointing 2025-26 season.

Momcilovic joins a roster headlined by returnees Kam Williams and Malachi Moreno as well as incoming transfer guards Zoom Diallo (Washington) and Alex Wilkins (Furman).

How good will Kentucky be with Momcilovic in the fold? ESPN moved the Wildcats into their way-too-early rankings at No. 17 while Bart Torvik’s early projections have the Wildcats as the No. 23 team in the country entering next season.
