Tennessee football seems to have some ground to make up in the recruitment of in-state, five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. The class of 2027 target is coming off an official visit to Ohio State, and multiple experts quickly logged predictions for him to commit to the Buckeyes.

However, Gabriel Georges is back in Knoxville for an official visit to see Tennessee this weekend. During the crucial stretch of days, the Vols seemingly have an ace up their sleeve.

Also on campus at the same time as Gabriel Georges is former Tennessee star and current NFL standout Alvin Kamara. He played for UT from 2015-16 after beginning his career at Alabama, then heading to Hutchinson CC. Now, he’s been with the New Orleands Saints since 2017 and has made five Pro Bowls.

New Vols cornerbacks coach Derek Jones posted a photo with Kamara on Friday afternoon.

According to 247 Composite, he is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.

Currently, Tennessee’s class of 2027 commitment list ranks just outside the top-30 on both 247 and Rivals. However, the Vols have laid a strong foundation to build on and are in good standing with a number of highly-rated recruits.
