An ex-Tennessee offensive lineman is officially on the move in the NFL. According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs are trading offensive tackle Wanya Morris and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Morris was drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, becoming NFL teammates with VFL and Tennessee legend Trey Smith in the process. By the time that Morris arrived in Kansas City, Smith had been with the team for two seasons.
Morris spent his first two collegiate seasons at Tennessee in 2019 and 2020. He then transferred to Oklahoma for his final two seasons in 2021 and 2022. Smith, meanwhile, played his final season with Tennessee in 2020.
Smith and Morris became good friends during their time in Knoxville and Kansas City. When Tennessee beat Oklahoma during the 2024 football season, Morris had to pay up a bet to Smith by donning Tennessee gear in the Chiefs’ locker room.

Morris’ trade to Atlanta puts him back in familiar territory. He’s a native of Grayson, GA, and went to Grayson High School before originally signing with the Tennessee Volunteers. Schultz’s report states that Kansas City and Morris worked together to find his new team.
During his time at Oklahoma, Morris played with ex-Tennessee running back Eric Gray and former Josh Heupel quarterback protégé Dillon Gabriel.
