It’s a busy time on the recruiting trail with official visits taking place and recruits across the country making decisions for their future. One of the biggest developments in recent weeks has been in the recruitment of four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II.

After initially committing to Alabama in May, Simon flipped his commitment to stay home and follow in his father’s footsteps at UT. A week removed from the announcement to join Tennessee football, Simon made the trip to Knoxville for his official visit, he revealed on his Instagram story.

Simon ranks as a four-star recruit and No. 139 player in the class of 2027, according to 247 Composite. He is the No. 10 linebacker and No. 6 player from the state of Tennessee. While he started his high school career in Knoxville at Bearden, he currently plays for Brentwood Academy just outside of Nashville.

“Modern 3-4 linebacker projection with the athleticism, physicality and awareness to play all three downs,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Began prep career as a safety, but got more and more snaps in the box as a junior for a Brentwood Academy squad that captured a Tennessee Division II-AA championship. Displays impressive downhill thrust as he shoots forward and closes gaps. Swiftly changes directions from a second-level perch and takes sharp angles to the football…”

Simon is the son of one of the best linebackers this century to play at Tennessee. Kevin Simon spent his college career at UT from 2001-05 and was named a two-time All-SEC member. He would go on to be selected in the 7th round of the NFL draft.

Tennessee currently holds 16 commitments in the 2027 class. The group ranks as the No. 42 class in the cycle at this point, according to 247. This features another linebacker, as well, JP Peace. Peace is also a legacy commit, being the son of Robert Peace and grandson of Phillip Fulmer. He is also in town for an official visit this weekend.
