Local standout Michael Teasley will spend at least the next year wearing the orange and white. The Tennessee baseball signee removed his name from the MLB Draft on Saturday night after going unselected in the first four rounds of the draft, he announced on X.
First off I would like to think all of the MLB teams for the consideration but after conversations with my family and inner circle, I am withdrawing my name from the MLB draft. I am excited to hit the ground running at The University of Tennessee!🟠⚪️#GoVols pic.twitter.com/VLVW13AKpe

Teasley earned Tennessee AAAA Mr. Baseball honors during both his junior and senior seasons while starring at Oak Ridge High School as a right-handed pitcher and third baseman. The highly rated recruit helped lead Oak Ridge back to the state tournament in his senior season and recorded the final out of a sectional win over Dobyns-Bennett.

Perfect Game ranked Teasley as the No. 151 player and No. 8 third baseman in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Teasley also ranked as the No. 9 player in the state of Tennessee.
Teasley committed to Tennessee baseball in the fall of 2024 when he chose Tennessee over LSU, Auburn and others. He went on to win Mr. Baseball honors in his junior year before sticking to his commitment and signing with the Vols following Tony Vitello’s departure to the San Francisco Giants and Josh Elander’s promotion to head coach.
Three Tennessee baseball signees were selected on the opening day of the MLB Draft including Jared Grindlinger (pick No. 12), Trevor Condon (No. 13) and Kaiden McCarthy (No. 48). A number of other Volunteer signees remain draft risks including catcher Sean Dunlap, shortstop Jack Duggan, two-way Cole Koeninger as well as right-handed pitchers Gary Morse, Ty Putnam, Shawn Sullivan and Cannon Grant.
The 2026 MLB Draft resumes at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday with the fifth through 20th round.
