Tennessee football is one of the six schools still in the mix for one of the top edge rushers in the country for the class of 2028. George Parkinson IV listed the Vols, Penn State, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Oregon and LSU as the schools he will be focusing on the most going forward.

Parkinson ranks as a four-star prospect, via 247. He is the No. 89 overall recruit, No. 15 edge rusher and No. 2 player from the state of Pennsylvania in the class. He is from Malvern, Pennsylvania, where he plays for Malvern Prep.

“I want to sincerely thank every coach, staff member, and program that has invested their time in me throughout this process,” Parkinson wrote in his announcement. “I don’t take any of it for granted. These six schools have consistently made me feel like a priority, and I’m excited to continue building those relationships as my recruiting journey continues. This isn’t a commitment— it’s simply where my focus will be moving forward. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. The work continues.”

Heading into his junior year, Parkinson is listed at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. He picked up his Tennessee offer back in Feburary of 2026 and took a follow-up visit on March 21 to get a look at UT’s spring practice.

Parkinson has been in contact with a number of staffers at Tennessee during his recruitment. His primary recruiter seems to be Andrew Jackson, though, leading to the thought that he projects as a LEO if he picks UT. He’s also seemingly been in contact with head coach Josh Heupel, assistant defensive line coach Nick Brautigam Sr., defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and co-defensive coordinator Anthony Poindexter.

So far, Tennessee holds no commitments in the 2028 class. In the 2027 cycle, the Vols hold 16 commitments, but sit outside the top 40 nationally in team rankings.
