Tennessee baseball players are sprawled across the country this summer playing in various collegiate leagues before returning to Knoxville in August and beginning fall practice in September. A handful of Vols are spending their summer competing in the Cape Cod League— widely considered the top collegiate summer league.

In fact, a trio of Tennessee players earned invites to the Cape Cod All-Star game including Tyler Myatt, Levi Clark and Ethan Baiotto.

Myatt has put up the most impressive numbers of the bunch this summer playing for the Orleans Firebirds. The left-handed hitter is slashing .268/.379/.423 with four homers, three doubles and nine RBIs in 97 ABs.

A Tazewell, Tennessee native, Myatt is coming off his first season in Knoxville after transferring in from Walters State. Expectations were high for Myatt after he earned NJCAA Player of the Year honors in 2025, however, Myatt struggled with consistency and ended up hitting .247 with three home runs and 33 RBIs in 73 at-bats.

While he was unable to earn a consistent role in 2026, Myatt could earn an everyday starting spot next season with his summer success proving to be a good sign.

Clark’s numbers have been less impressive this summer as he’s slashed .215/.319/.315 with six doubles, one triple and six RBIs in 79 ABs.

The catcher and first baseman had a turbulent sophomore season in Knoxville, struggling badly in non conference play before breaking out in SEC play and helping propel Tennessee’s offensive improvement. Over the course of the season, Clark hit .242 with 13 homers and 42 RBIs. However, Clark led the Vols in home runs and RBIs in SEC play.

Clark enters the 2027 season as one of Tennessee’s top players and will start everyday whether that’s catcher, first base, left field or designated hitter.

Baitto has impressed in his six appearances this summer, posting a 2.79 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 19.1 innings pitched. He’s struck out 18 batters and walked five. Baitto got most his work in midweek games during his true freshman season and posted a 6.17 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched.

The Vols are short on proven right-handed arms entering the 2027 season which opens up the door for Baiotto to take a leap forward and earn a major role in his sophomore season.
