Tennessee football built on its 2027 recruiting class on Friday by adding four-star offensive tackle Niko Kampas from the NFL Academy in England. However, that’s just the beginning of a critical stretch on the recruiting trail for the Vols. UT is also narrowing in on a pair of in-state running back targets, who will have a big say in the shaping of the class.
The biggest name on the list is five-star David Gabriel Georges. The No. 2 back in the country is deciding between Tennessee, Ohio State and Ole Miss with a commitment date set for July 22.
Then, three-star Asa Barnes will reveal his choice exactly a week later on July 29. He is picking between the Vols, Arkansas, Florida State and USC.
How those pending commitments play out will play a big role in the formation of Tennessee’s class. Whether it lands none, both or just one of the two creates very different scenarios in the team ranking for the 2027 cycle.
Here’s a look at the scenarios of how Tennessee’s class will rank if it lands Gabriel Georges, Barnes, both or neither.
