Junior defensive tackle Alexis Johnson was arrested on Wednesday, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department online records.

Arrest warrants show charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel, stemming from an alleged incident last Sunday between Johnson and a female at Volunteer Hall.

Court records, via WBIR, stated that the victim “told police that Johnson tried repeatedly to isolate her in his bedroom, and then the two began play fighting in the living room. The victim says Johnson placed his hand around her throat two to three times, and she felt like she was going to pass out. A witness, according to court records, said Johnson appeared to be “really punching her” and referred to the victim’s lip as “busted.”

Johnson has been suspended from all football activities indefinitely.

Johnson enrolled in January as a junior after spending two seasons at Fort Scott Community College, where he totaled 8.5 sacks, 41 tackles and 12.5 TFLs in 2015. He was a consensus four-star recruit who was ranked as the top junior college defensive tackle by multiple recruiting services.
