Jones named the Vols his leader in early June but took an official visit to Florida State on July 18th. He committed to the Seminoles on July 20th, much to the surprise of most recruiting analysts who had pinned Tennessee and South Carolina as his most likely landing spots.

The Vols have found several plug-and-play JUCO D-linemen in recent years and Jones is exactly that type of player.
Originally from South Carolina, Jones, a rising sophomore at East Mississippi Community College, has found a comfort level with defensive line coach Steve Stripling and sees the opportunity to come in and play immediately at UT with the Vols rebuilding their defensive front.
He has plenty of size and as a freshman at EMCC, he recorded eight sacks and eight additional tackles for loss. He knows how to find his way into the backfield.
