RTI Pick Six: Week Five

Boston-College

Colorado State @ Boston College (-7) TV: Gameplan 12:30 pm Saturday

Daniel:  I like Boston College big in this one. The Eagles will run all over the Rams. Colorado already gives up over 5.0 yards per carry and Boston College is fifth in the nation in rushing yards per game with an average of 336 per contest. That’s very bad news for a CSU team ranked 106th in the nation in run defense. And remember former Florida quarterback Tyler Murphy, who sliced up Tennessee last year? He’s at the helm for BC now and his dual-threat presence is just something else CSU will have to deal with. Winner: Boston College 34-13

Houston: Tyler Murphy is at it again this season. Vol fans will remember Boston College’s quarterback for coming on in place of the injured Jeff Driskel last year in the Swamp and leading the Gators to victory. Two weeks ago against Southern Cal, Murphy chipped in 191 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just thirteen carries as BC tallied 452 yards on the ground in their 37-31win over the Trojans. Colorado State brings in a balanced offense that should be able to have some success against the Eagles’ defense, but I don’t think they will get enough opportunities thanks to the ability of BC to run the football and melt the clock. Winner: Boston College 31-24.

Reed: The fact we’re picking this game shows you how terrible the slate of games is this weekend. Boston College’s fifth ranked rushing attack will be too much for the Rams to handle and former Gator QB Tyler Murphy will make enough plays to keep the defense honest.  Winner: Boston College 28-20

Zac: Teams from the West can struggle making cross-country road trips. Just ask UCLA, which almost lost at Virginia, and USC, which fell to this Boston College program two weeks ago. Don’t expect the Rams to contain Eagles’ quarterback Tyler Murphy, who averages 9.1 yards per carry on the ground, in an early 12:30 p.m.kickoff. Winner: Boston College 31-14
