Reranking Tennessee’s 2014 Signing Class

Jalen Hurd-1-3

 Running back

Jalen Hurd
Initial ranking: ★★★★
Was it a good ranking? Low. Low. Low. Hurd tallied over 1,100 yards from scrimmage despite working behind the worst (by a long shot) offensive line in the league. He got better as the season progressed and proved to be dangerous catching the ball out of the backfield. Simply put, he lived up to, and even exceeded, the high expectations for him last season.
Rerank: ★★★★★

Treyvon Paulk
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? We never got to see a healthy Paulk on the field, but in his limited practice reps, he looked quicker and more explosive than many expected. Off-the-field issues led to his dismissal from the team, making him even tougher to rank, but even hobbled, he looked more like a 4-star back than a 3-star.
Rerank: Incomplete

Derrell Scott
Initial ranking: ★★★★
Was it a good ranking? Like Paulk, Scott is tough to rank. On one hand, he came in stronger and bigger than we expected and looked to have a bright future as an all-purpose back. On the other, he struggled with injuries and we never got to see him at his best. He chose to leave the program and continue his career at Eastern Carolina.
Rerank: Incomplete
