It may not be realistic to say he’s a candidate to see a ton of action at outside linebacker with players such as Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Curt Maggitt, Cortez McDowell, Elliott Berry and others in the picture there. But the slightly undersized, though athletic, linebacker is the ideal candidate to come in and have an immediate impact on special teams.

We’ve seen both Reeves-Maybin and McDowell have big freshman seasons on coverage teams, and perhaps that’s the path Sapp will follow. He probably needs a year or two of strength training to be ready to hold up in the box as a linebacker in the SEC, but that shouldn’t prevent him from flying down the field and making plays in coverage as a freshman.
