John: Welcome to RTI’s weekly pick 6 feature where Kevin Hughes relies upon research and legitimate theories to select winners against the spread and I rely on anything but. See, a lot of my picks are supposed to be humorous, but after posting my second consecutive 1-5 mark last week, I’m afraid they’ve transcended to the pathetic. So here I sit, 5-12-1 for the year, truly hard to do. Kevin, meanwhile, went 4-2 last week, bringing his season total up to a more than respectable 10-7-1.
Our early-season results suggest you should either (a) follow Kevin’s advice or (b) fade mine, HOWEVER, I wouldn’t be so quick to make that assumption. Because this week, I’ve decided to use a lifeline and reach out to the venerable Vol Colonel for his input on each game on this week’s slate. I told him whichever his favorite pick of the six was, I’d go with. Even if I vehemently disagreed. So maybe that’ll change my luck.
