Pick 6: SEC Against the Spread — Week 6

[tps_header][/tps_header]

Jalen Hurd-1

No. 19 Georgia (-3) at Tennessee, Saturday, 3:30 pm ET, CBS

Kevin: Ironically, Tennessee continues to get prime time coverage on national television week in and week out, because everyone outside of the Tennessee fan base really wants to watch them fall deeper into the pit of the despair. Georgia, SO PREDICTABLY, just took a total ass-beating from Alabama and needs to get back on track. Fortunately for the Bulldog faithful, a game in Neyland Stadium should be just what the doctor ordered. I’m of the opinion that Tennessee is all but totally unraveled, but UGA almost never pulls away in Knoxville. Plus they’ll probably have to come back from a 14-17 point deficit at some point. Though a heartbreaking 1 point loss for Tennessee is always possible I think the Dogs win by 7. UGA -3.

John: There’s absolutely no way you can honestly pick Tennessee in this matchup. That doesn’t mean the Volunteers can pull off the upset. They can. In fact, it’s the last of the big three (Alabama, Florida and Georgia) that the Vols managed to beat back in Kiffin’s solitary year on Rocky Top. (And, incidentally, the only win against one of the big three since Phillip Fulmer was head coach.) Point being, even in this down stretch for Tennessee football, the Vols have played Georgia very tough. The last four contests have all been one-possession affairs. The last two, one-field-goal affairs, one of them going to overtime.

But playing tough isn’t enough. The one guy who always showed up for Georgia was Pig Howard and he’ll never don the orange again. Plus, word on the street is that Chubb didn’t like getting thoroughly waxed by Saban. And the last thing the Vols want is an angry Chubb in the backfield.

I expect a compelling game, but I also expect the Bulldogs to cover the 3. But have you seen my record for the year? I’m usually wrong. I hope I’m wrong on this one.
