Safety/athlete Maleik Gray was the only Tennessee commitment at The Opening, held in Beaverton, Ore., over the weekend, but he made the Vols proud, finishing 23rd among all the participants in the cumulative score from the events.
UT targets running back Cam Akers (3rd), athlete Chase Hayden (6th) and receiver Jeremiah Holloman (8th) were among some of the other top finishers.
Gray, a 6-2, 187-pound produce of LaVergne, Tenn., committed to the Vols in June, and is currently the highest-ranked player in the class (No. 59 in the nation), according to 247Sports.
