Josh Dobbs Named to Another Award Watch List

Joshua Dobbs-1

Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs has already been named to a plethora of award watch lists. Now his name has been added to yet another preseason award watch list.

Dobbs was named to the 2016 College Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List. While you may not know much about this specific award, it’s worth noting that only 32 players across the country have been included to this watch list. Not 32 quarterbacks, but just 32 players. So the smaller sample size means Dobbs is in more prestigious company.

Of those 32 players, 22 are quarterbacks like Dobbs and 10 others are running backs. Dobbs is Tennessee’s only player on the watch list. Alabama running back Derrick Henry won the award last year.

The CFPA states that its goal is “to provide the most scientifically rigorous awards in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.”

Dobbs is now on a total of five award watch lists after being added to the CFPA list. He was already on the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, the Maxwell Award, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and the Wuerffel Trophy watch lists.
