Not only did the Battle at Bristol attract the largest crowd in football history, the UT-Virginia Tech matchup played at Bristol Motor Speedway also brought in a large TV audience.
The game scored a 3.8 overnight rating (more on ratings here), according to Sports Media Watch, making it the most-watched college football game of the week in metered markets.
It was, however, down from last year’s Michigan State-Oregon game which played in the same time slot in Week 2 of the season. That game got a 5.0.
SMW also reported that 86,000 streamed the game online.
