Notes: Vols Get Mixed Injury News For the Gators

Joshua-DobbsSome notes from Butch Jones’ Monday press conference in advance of the Florida game:

Injury update: Butch Jones confirmed that cornerback Cam Sutton has a fractured ankle, and will be out an extended period of time.

Tackle Chance Hall and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin will be at practice on Monday, Jones confirmed. Jones also said he’d have to see a little bit more on Monday and Tuesday at practice to know Hall’s status for the Florida game. Jones said it was just a muscle strain for Reeves-Maybin, and he anticipates him playing.

Inside linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. will miss his second straight game with an ankle injury.

Linebacker Quart’e Sapp is out for the year with a torn ACL. Cornerback Justin Martin should be back for Florida after missing the Ohio game. Jones expects receiver Josh Smith (ankle) to play against the Gators as well. Defensive end LaTroy Lewis is questionable for Saturday.

Going gray: The Vols will wear their Smokey gray uniforms against Florida on Saturday. UT is 1-2 all-time in the alternate gray look.

“Organizational” chart notes: Tennessee puts out a depth chart – or an “organizational chart” as Butch Jones likes to put it. Justin Martin, Emmanuel Moseley and Malik Foreman (nickel) are listed as the starting cornerbacks, Reeves-Maybin and Colton Jumper are the linebackers, and the offensive line is listed as (from left to right) Brett Kendrick, Jashon Robertson, Dylan Wiesman, Jack Jones and Coleman Thomas.

Josh Smith, who missed the Ohio game, is listed as a starting receiver. Corey Vereen is listed as the starting defensive end with LaTroy Lewis still out.

Georgia game time set: The Vols will be on CBS back-to-back weeks. UT-Florida is the 3:30 pm ET CBS game this week, and the league announced on Monday that Tennessee will also play Georgia at 3:30 pm ET on CBS on Sept. 1 as well.
