Tommy Thigpen is one of the top recruiters on the staff, and for that, he might get the opportunity to stick around. But while his unit was hit hard by injuries as well, there appeared to be a clear lack of depth at this position as the defense significantly faltered without Jalen Reeves-Maybin and a healthy Darrin Kirkland Jr. for much of the year. Evaluations at linebacker appear to be a question at well. Players such as Dillon Bates, Gavin Bryant and others have been in the program a few years, yet haven’t developed to the point where the staff is comfortable leaving them on the field for significant amounts of times.
