Friday Top 10: What Needs to be Evaluated This Offseason

1. “The system”

Butch Jones-1

Yes, this is a little bit nebulous. But when Jones was hired at Tennessee, he described his system as infallible if the players buy in. Whatever that system is, it didn’t look infallible in 2016. It was a tough year, no question. Jones has brought in enough talent and has made enough progress that he gets some benefit of the doubt that 2016 could’ve been a fluke. But with all the negative publicity over the past year and UT’s shortcomings on the field in 2016, that sets up a huge 2017 for Jones. He’ll need to evaluate everything the Vols do – from offense to defense to strength and conditioning to practice to recruiting, to put the Vols in position to take another step next season.
