2. How is the team dealing with the disappointment of 2016?
No matter how you slice it, the Vols’ 2016 season was a disappointment. After starting out 5-0 and with victories over Florida and Georgia in dramatic fashion, finishing the season without at least an SEC East title would be a disappointment. And that’s exactly what happened with Tennessee last year.
A good portion of Tennessee’s roster from last year is gone and in the NFL now. But the majority of the players and coaches who went through the ups and downs of the 2016 season are still around, and Butch Jones and the three players with him are part of that group.
How does a team recover from that sort of letdown? How is the team handling the shift in expectations from national and local media? Is the locker room any different now after all that happened last year? Expect questions like these and more while the Vols are at the podium.
