The long offseason is finally over, and it’s almost football time in Tennessee once again.
The Vols will kick off their season on Monday, September 4th as the No. 25 team in the country according to the preseason AP Poll. Tennessee is a top 25 team in all the major preseason polls, but that’s a far cry from where they were last season when they were a consensus top 10 team heading into the start of the 2016 season. But the Vols are just a few short days away from beginning their fifth season under head coach Butch Jones.
Now it’s time for the Rocky Top Insider crew to lay out our predictions for the season. We’ll have a game-week preview of each match-up as well, and we’ll reserve the right to update our picks before each game if events in the season give us a reason to do so.
Managing editor Nathanael Rutherford, writer/contributor Will Boling, photographer/contributor Mason Burgin, and contributor Ben McKee all share their predictions for the Vols’ upcoming 2017 season.
