Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech, September 4th
Breakdown: The Yellow Jackets will be one of the toughest season opening opponents the Vols have had in a while. Yes, Appalachian State gave the Vols fits last year and took them to overtime. But Georgia Tech presents their own set of challenges thanks to their flexbone/triple-option offense. Tennessee’s defense in 2016 had some major struggles down the stretch, most notably against opposing rushing attacks. The Vols will need a much better showing on defense if they hope to win this one. Not to mention that this game will be the first career start for whichever quarterback steps on to the field first for Tennessee in this one.
As tough as a challenge as this game will be, we all have Tennessee prevailing and beginning the season with a win for the ninth consecutive year.
