Four-Star Pass Rusher has Vols Among Top Teams

Tennessee doesn’t have many pure pass rushers committed to them in their 2019 recruiting class as of now. But as of Sunday night, they’re in a good spot with a highly-rated and very effective edge rusher in the 2019 class.

Adisa Isaac is a four-star defensive end/linebacker out of Brooklyn, New York. On Sunday night, he tweeted out his top 10 schools, and Tennessee was included among those teams.

Tennessee sent out an offer to Isaac back on February 27th, and the 6-foot-5, 215-pound defender added that Vols offer to a bevy of offers he had picked up at the end of February. Texas A&M, LSU, and Florida all offered Isaac in the couple days leading up to Tennessee’s offer. Along with his top 10 schools, Isaac also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Michigan State, and others.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Isaac is the No. 148 overall player in the 2019 class and the No. 1 player in the state of New York. He’s listed as a weak-side defensive end, but he’s played both defensive end and linebacker thus far in high school. He’s officially visited Texas A&M earlier this year and has unofficially visited Penn State twice in the last few months.

Right now, Isaac hasn’t visited Tennessee yet. But he’s hoping to make some more visits in the fall before he ends up making his college decision around the end of his senior season.

Isaac has great burst and is a violent attacker off the edge. His versatility will suit him well in college, but his highest ceiling is probably at linebacker in a 3-4 defensive system. But he can certainly put on the weight necessary to play defensive end because of his huge 6-foot-5 frame. Isaac is very quick and accelerates past blockers effectively. He has some solid strength as well, and he doesn’t give up on plays.

As a junior last season, Isaac totaled 57 tackles, eight sacks, and forced a safety according to the Public Schools Athletic League website.

Tennessee only has one defensive end/outside linebacker committed in their 2019 class right now. Three-star Jalil Clemons out of Starkville, Mississippi committed to the Vols back on June 24th, and he’s currently Tennessee’s only pure pass rusher in this recruiting cycle.

Isaac would be a big get for Tennessee if they can land him, but they’re battling from behind right now with programs like Texas A&M and Penn State. If the Vols can get him to visit, however, then things could change.
