Tennessee’s men’s basketball team begins their 2018-19 season tonight when they host head coach Rick Barnes’ alma mater, Lenoir-Rhyne, in Thompson-Boling Arena. The Vols have a ton of hype around them this year, as they come into this season ranked No. 6 in the preseason AP Poll and were picked to finish second in the SEC by the conference media members this offseason.

The Vols are coming off a surprisingly good season last year in which they finished with a 26-9 overall record, won a share of the SEC regular season title, and earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Tennessee returns all five starters from last season’s roster and all six of their top scorers.

Expectations have soared for Tennessee’s basketball team this year compared to last year, and we want to share our bold predictions for the upcoming season. Managing editor Nathanael Rutherford and staff writer Ben McKee both give three bold predictions each for Tennessee’s team this year.

Here are our bold predictions for the Vols’ upcoming 2018-19 basketball season.
