DL1: Emmit Gooden, John Mincey, Savion Williams
DL2: Aubrey Solomon*, Kingston Harris, Darel Middleton
DL3: Matthew Butler, Savion Williams, LaTrell Bumphus
*depending on if Aubrey Solomon is eligible or not
Tennessee’s defensive line comes into fall camp with a lot of questions, and one of the biggest ones still hasn’t been answered.
If Aubrey Solomon gets his immediate eligibility waiver approved by the NCAA, then he is likely in line for a starting spot along UT’s defensive line. If not, that raises several more questions.
Emmit Gooden is the only lineman who looks easily slotted into a starting spot on the D-line. Matthew Butler showed potential in the spring, but he’ll have to fight off the likes of incoming JUCO lineman Savion Williams, John Mincey, and LaTrell Bumphus. JUCO lineman Darel Middleton is another one who could find a spot in the two-deep while battling returning players like Kingston Harris, Greg Emerson, and others.
