Finally, the players did a better job of executing, and UT’s coaches looked better because of it. I’ll contend that outside of the Georgia State game, Tennessee’s coaches have had a good game plan this whole season. Execution has been the issue. On Saturday, that wasn’t the case. You could knock Jim Chaney a little for being as conservative as he was, but in the end that looked to be the right call. Defensively, it was one of the best-called games of the Jeremy Pruitt era.

Ben: A

It’s amazing how much better the coaches look when the players execute. That’s not to say the coaches don’t deserve blame for the miserable start to the season, but it helps when the players execute. The game plan on both sides of the ball was tremendous, the coaching staff made adjustments, and Jeremy Pruitt had his team ready to play. It was a great day for Tennessee’s coaching staff.
